This star has block like margin plates. It can be orange on top or may have a reddish star-shaped area on the disc with cream arms. Disc very small, little more than a junction-point for the long, snake-like cylindrical arms.

Ranging from Cook Strait to Otago, deepwater.

It is a scavenger.
