Rock cod are yellow-grey to red-brown with white fin margins. They have chin barbels. They may grow up to 50 cm in length.
A benthic species which occurs in the continental shelf and in inshore waters. Often found in caves.
Predator
Often combined in catches with Red Cod by commercial fishermen.
Not uncommon on rocky coastline reefs although very shy and not often caught.
