Pure white shell that is long and narrow with strong vertical ribs marking previous lips of the aperture. The operculum is black.

Common on northern shores. Found in the mid intertidal to 20 m on sandy substrata and rocky shores where sand has been trapped.

Feeds on the tide pool anemone, Anthopleura aureoradiata.
