This snail has a large and very heavy shell, some can have strong spiral cords, but the majority are weaker. The shell is cream to dirty white in colour.
Common in the mid to low tide zone on northern sheltered to exposed rocky shores.
It preys on cat's eye snails, top snails and mussels.
It lays purple-tinged. creamy white eggs in goups amongst mussels and barnacles.
