Small greyish green shell. More streamlined than C. adspersa. The shell is always smooth and has large spots. The aperture is light bluish grey and the exterior spots can be seen through the shell. The columella (spiral support) is yellow. The operculum (door) is horny and dark brown.


Lives in mudflats adjacent to rocks and stones from mid to low-intertidal in semi sheltered to sheltered areas.


A predator of bivalves.


Females aggregate to lay masses of eggs around the bases of large rocks and rock ledges.
