This seaweed has glassy bead-like cells that are a rich iridescent green colour. The filaments can be solitary or occur in clusters. The glassy, bead-like cells increasing in size from base to apex. Small plants grow up to 12cm.
Sometimes found living on brown and red seaweeds, the plant can also be found attached to rocks at or just below low tide (to 4m).
Uses the sun's energy.
This seaweed tastes like fresh peas or cucumber! It is known to have a laxative effect, probably because of the saltwater contained in the bladders.
