This snail has a beautiful, tall, conical shell with a rounded body whorl. Itbranges from orange/pink on the spire and mauve/blue on the lower whorls. The shell has narrow purplish red zigzag streaks over all of it. The outer surface is often eroded at the spire showing the greenish nacre.


It lives around large seaweeds in subtidal kelp beds on semi-exposed to exposed coasts.
