A narrow, smooth (except for fine growth lines), elongated and oval shell. The spiral support has 2 white ridges. The shell is light ginger to chocolate brown and can be decorated with 1 or more fine contrasting spiral bands. Shells often have a white margin to the shell opening (aperture).
Mangroves/salt marshes North Island and Upper South Island and the upper intertidal of mudflats. Often associated with mangroves or other saltmarsh plants.
Grazes almost exclusively on Rhizoclonium africanum (a green seaweed) but has been observed grazing on decaying Hormosira (a brown seaweed).
An airbreather.
