The valves are inflated and look like an asymetrical triangle. The outside is a light khaki brown and is covered with fine, sharp, concentric rings. The inside of the shell is iridescent and silver in colour. It grows to 8mm shell length.
Mudflat, low intertidal to about 20m. May occur in numbers of thousands per square metre.
Feeds on organic detritus within the sediment.
