This is a cone shaped limpet with 35 or more wavy ribs, however these are often obscured by encrusting organisms. The animal is larger than its shell and cannot retract into it. The shell is grey-brown to darker brown with pale ribs.
Fairly common on rocks and under ledges on moderately exposed shores. Small animals are often found in rock pools.
Scarpes algae off of rocks.
Lays coils of eggs in a jelly. These look rather like onion rings.
