A small, flask shaped sponge growing to about 20mm. One of the few sponges with rods (spicules) made of calcium carbonate. It is white and soft to the touch. It can reach its maximum size in a few months.


Found attached to rocky substrates to depths of about 30m.


A filter feeder, feeding upon particles and plankton in the water.


Reproduction is either by asexual budding or by releaseing egga ns dperm into the water column to create a planktonic larva.
