The worm is segmented and superficially resembles bamboo. A common species is Macroclymenella stewartensis.


Found on the low shore in sheltered bays and within fine sediments, their fine tubes are often the only evidence of their presence.


Feeds on organic detritus within the sediment.


Creates burrows made out of sand grains held together by mucous.
