The body is usually encrusted with sand. The disc is wide and all brown, green, pink or blue. The tentacles are usually a different colour from blue, mauve, orange or white.
Found in the bottom of tidal pools where sand has collected on exposed shores.
Predator.
Endemic to New Zealand.
